The year 2006 dawned with a handful of  dance programmes in and around Chennai. The most satisfying was the one at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan during the last season for the Kartik Fine Arts  in which  besides a rare varnam of the Tanjore Quartete in Chakravaham, Swarnamalya  had included a novel idea of presenting a Khandita nayika through an ashtapadi and a tamil padam, both in saveri ragam, interlinking the two songs.

After the success of the grand Premiere  Nammai marandarai Nam marakka mattom, swarnamalya was  invited  to present the dance drama at the holy place of Thiruvaiyaru under the auspices of Muthamizh Sangam  followed by the invitation  from the Department of Tourism ,Government of Pondicherry to stage the dance drama at the Karaikal Fest .

It became a unique programme for two reasons . One was    the huge audience  it  drew  and the other was the   content of the second half .    For the singing of Palagat Sriram and    young and popular playback singers   Saindavi Haricharan and Pradeep Kumar,  Swarnamalya and her troupe presented a few dance numbers for the classical songs from the films of yester years . This received a lot of appreciation from the audience.

It is always a pleasure and a divine experience to perform at the feet of the Lord of Dance, particularly on the day  of Shivarathri. For the second consecutive year, Swarnamalya was fortunate to be invited to perform at the Kumbakonam Natyanjali  Festival at the temple of Lord Kumbeswarar and Mangalambigai.

Swarnamalya conceptualized and presented a unique Bharatanatyam recital of a traditional   repertoire titled  “Margam The Path” on 1st August 2006 at Narada Gana Sabha at a grand function organised by a great patron  of art  Mr Prem Kallat.

Dance legend Dr Padma Subrahmanyam and Sri R. Krishnaswamy who were the Guests of Honour   paid  rich encomiums     appreciating the selection of rare items, chroreography and   the impeccable   artistry.  Many VVIPs and rasikas witnessed the programme.  Rich tributes were paid by the Press.  Because of the popularity of this programme, at the request of well-wishers the live programme is being brought out as a DVD Album  listed for launch in the first week of   December  by Actor Prakashraj.

The items presented include a Sankeernam Alarippu , a Jatiswaram   in Vasantha, a  Sabdam, a  rare  Varnam of the Tanjore Quartete in Chakravaham, A Padam in tamil   a   Javali and an ancient   Tillana in
